A Periodic Table that displays the absorption and emission spectra by clicking on the element symbol. Clicking on a line in the spectrum gives the frequency. Easy to see the changes as you go from one element to another.

WebElements Periodic Table. This is a good and visual representation of P. T of elements with lots of links to information about particular elements. It serves as a good reference source but I would use this more for grade 9's than seniors.

4 labels have fallen off 4 bottles The bottles contain solutions that can be mixed together to identify which label goes on which bottle using information from a solubility table. This dropper-bottle lab exercise involves logical reasoning and a knowledge of solubility tables.

A video camera can be quickly fitted with a diffraction grating and used as a spectroscope. The zoom lens provides a way to see detailed structure in spectra of gas elements and other sources of coloured light.

This attention-getting demonstration is easy to prepare and illustrates the difference between absorption of coloured light and fluorescence of coloured light. It can be used as an attention-getter in Grade 9 Physics strand.

Demonstrating the effect of CO2 on the pH of water: The bad breath indicator. The colorful demonstration that I describe is one I have performed successfully in front of elementary, middle, high school and college students. It makes an ideal addition to a chemistry demonstration show. It never fails to get a laugh, and it nicely demonstrates the acidity of CO2 and can also be used to discuss buffers. Podcasts of individual elements in the periodic table narrated by noted scientists. Good source of STSE information but teachers should preview each before assigning it to students.
